Misheard Lyrics

So I was clued into this funny video by a friend of mine and he thought it would be a great video to post here on Wasting Time. This video features the Pearl Jam song Yellow Ledbetter and how one might mishear the lyrics of the song. I think one of my favorite lines is "make me fries" and also "potato wave". Very Funny stuff.

also if anyone else has anything that you think should be featured on Wasting Time , just let me know.

Nirvana @ Maxwell's, Hoboken, NJ

Nirvana was one of my favorite bands of all time when I was growing up. So today, I was pleasantly surprised to come across this video clip of them playing at a local bar that I frequent from time to time, named Maxwell's. This performance is from 1989 before Nevermind and even a hint of mainstream success was upon them. Dave Grohl wasn't even the drummer yet(Chad Channing was) and they still had a second guitarist(Jason Everman). The clip features 3 songs all from their first album Bleach. It must of been wild to see Nirvana play in such a small place. Sadly to say that I never got around to see Nirvana play live. With that said I think I'm going to go fill up my iPod with a bunch of Nirvana songs and daydream about what it would be like if Kurt Kobain was still alive and making music today.

Arctic Monkeys

For the past month or so I've been listening to nothing but the Arctic Monkeys on my iPod. I know that they were once touted as the next big thing from Britain when they first blipped on the radar over here, but I didn't really pay much attention to them. That all changed on a whim when I got their album Whatever People Say I Am That's What I'm Not. Their are some really great tunes on the album from Riot Van to Perhaps Vampires Is A Bit Strong But...

You hate to classify music but if I had to I would describe it as indie-punk-pop. I know that thats a bit of a odd combination of musical descriptions but let me clear it up for you. I classify it as indie-punk-pop and not just solely as pop-punk because with been brainwashed my the current trends of music into believe punk music today is some band that has a number somewhere in its name, the members have tattoos, their video is usually played after a Britney Spears video on MTV and they site their musical influences as far back as Green Day. No offense to Green Day, I've actually have come to like them as they've progressed in their career, but that's a whole nother blog. So indie-punk sounded like a good description since I would classify them as punk but not mainstream pop punk. I also threw in the label pop, because a good deal of their songs if given a chance could be radio hits and the popular(hence the label pop) culture would like them. Lets me put it this way this is a band that you would have lots of fun listening too/watching in a crowded bar drinking pints of beer with your friends. What's better than that.

Okay enough of that, basically enough of that. If you haven't heard of or listened to any of the Arctic Monkey's music, well your in luck they will be releasing a new album aptly titled Favourite Worst Nightmare, April 23rd. You can check out some of the tracks and see what some other blogs are saying about them, if you scroll down to my newly implemented Hype Machine Widget, located in the left sidebar. You can also hear a couple songs on their myspace profile.

On a side note they will be playing the Coachella Music Festival this year. IF you want to buy me tickets to go please don't hesitate to do so.

The Hype Machine

Ok I have to let everyone know about this great site I've been using for a little while now.The website is called The Hype Machine. What is the Hype Machine? Well basically it's a site that tracks and follows music blogs, listing links to song tracks that are featured on a particular blog. Maybe you still don't get it. Let me give you an example. Go to The Hype Machine, type in a musical artist your interested in and viola a list of links to music blogs pops up along with the particular music track that is featured on the blog. This is a great way to listen to a new artist and to see if you really want to go spend your hard earned cash on their CD or if you just want to purchase that one particle song.

On a side note the majority of these blogs that The Hype Machine is listing features mp3 downloads of the songs free of charge. Now I'm not advocating downloading copyrighted music with out paying for it but that option is there and I will leave that up to your own moral judgement.

On a added note I just added this cool new widget on the left side sidebar of my blog. It's a widget from The Hype Machine that displays the top ten most popular tracks on Hype Machine. GO ahead scroll down and check it out!

The Great Candy Exchange

So I'm going to forgo this weeks Time Wasting Video with another sort of video, that I plan on making into a weekly or bi-weekly installment on my blog. It is a Time Wasting Video but a video that is worth wasting your time watching.

This video is actually a video blog made by some Canadian who is doing a candy exchange. Let me explain it a bit better. This guy, who goes by the name of RussonaBuss is exchanging candy with people from around the world. When he receives the candy he than does a video critic of the candy. Now I know it might not seem too exciting but his videos are very funny, especially when he tries to do an accent of the person who sent him candy. His reviews can range from the positive to the down right negative, he actually almost threw up from eating some truly disgusting candy from Holland. Anyway to make a long story short, I happened to have stumbled upon his videos while wasting some time on the internet, I contacted him and asked his permission to feature his video blogs on my blog. He gave me the go ahead.

This is the first video of his candy exchange, be warned it is very long and he rambles on a bit, but I figured I should start this at the beginning. Be assured though that as he continues his videos do get shorter and funnier. So hopefully you'll be checking in from time to time to see his videos. And with out further ado I now present the Great Candy Exchange.
